Mississauga Program
Are you looking for an original, practical, and eco-friendly way to get around the City?
Residents and visitors to Mississauga can now take advantage of a self-service electric scooter rental service. With this initiative, we are enhancing our sustainable mobility offerings in the city, as well as increasing accessibility.
Starting on June 1st, 2024, Bird Canada became one of two e-scooter and e-bike operators in the City of Mississauga. We deployed a fleet of 450 all-new orange Bird e-scooters and blue e-bikes across the city. For all inbound 311 requests regarding e-scooters and e-bikes that are orange and blue or marked with the Bird logo, agents can reach out to Bird Canada for support through the outlined channels.

City of Mississauga Local Riding Rules
Parking Rules — How and where you can end your ride & park:
– HOW: Riders will be able to end their ride through the Bird app and will be asked to take a photo of their vehicle to ensure the vehicle is parked properly & not blocking the public right of way. Riders will only be able to end their ride when in a designated parking location as detonated by the black P symbols within the Bird App and will have to lock their vehicle to a piece of Bird-specific or public infrastructure
– WHERE: Riders will be able to end their ride & park their vehicles within the city-approved designated parking locations. These areas will typically be between the curb and the through zone in which street amenities, such as lighting, benches, newspaper kiosks, utility poles, tree pits, and bicycle parking are located. Within the pre-approved areas, riders will have to lock their vehicle, using the available locks on the Bird e-bikes & e-scooters to a piece of Bird or public infrastructure (such as Bike racks or poles).
Riding Rules:
– Residents and visitors of Mississauga will be able to rent & operate Bird Canada e-scooters & e-bikes within the defined service area, outlined in the below image. The area is subject to change based on the City of Mississauga’s operating guidelines.
Within the operating zone, riders will not be able to use e-scooter or e-bikes on sidewalks and controlled access highways like the 401. The vehicles will also not work outside of the operating zone.
Each of these areas within the service area, all e-scooter & e-bike operators will have sidewalk detection technology or no-ride zones implemented. Both of these technologies will slowly bring an e-scooter & e-bike to an automatic stop should a rider attempt to ride in these zones, ensuring no users ride within these specified areas.
– The Bird app will instruct riders on how to ride e-scooters & e-bikes when they begin their first ride. The app will then display the below messages to ensure riders are educated on local & safe riding guidelines. Lime will also have educational messaging when beginning a ride.
