(REGINA) Jun. 28, 2023
We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the City of Regina for the highly anticipated launch of the e-scooter program. Starting today, we embark on a journey to improve urban mobility by gradually introducing our state-of-the-art fleet of 250 e-scooters across key areas of the city, including the vibrant neighborhoods of Downtown Regina, Warehouse District and all throughout the city.
As a frontrunner in the quest for a renewable, net-zero future, the City of Regina has set its sights on a remarkable goal: achieving a sustainable and environmentally friendly cityscape by 2050. In line with this vision, we take immense pride in being a catalyst for change, as our e-scooters offer a remarkable transportation alternative that significantly contributes to this ambitious endeavor.
“On behalf of the City of Regina, we are excited to have industry leader Bird Canada bring their services to our community and appreciate their collaborative partnership. Shared e-scooters will provide our residents and visitors with a fun, convenient, and sustainable transportation option to explore and move through our vibrant city.” – Mayor Sandra Masters, City of Regina.
By providing the residents of Regina with convenient, eco-friendly transportation options, we aim to transform the way people navigate their daily lives while actively reducing carbon emissions and fostering a greener tomorrow. Join us in embracing this exhilarating chapter as we propel Regina toward a cleaner, more sustainable future, one e-scooter ride at a time.
“We are excited to have been selected by the City of Regina. Bird Canada is thrilled to offer a sustainable solution to make this summer season a success when it comes to sustainable transportation” - Alex Petre, COO of Bird Canada.
Regina residents are reminded that helmets are mandatory, and must be 16 years of age to ride. Shared e-scooters are allowed to operate within approved service areas, such as on bike lanes, park pathways, multi-use pathways and roads with a speed limit of 50 km/hour or less. E-scooters are not allowed on sidewalks and are limited to a maximum speed limit of 24 km/hr on roadways, and 15 km/hr on pathways. Please ride responsibly. Be aware of your surroundings and share roads and pathways accordingly. Visit SGI’s website for information on provincial guidelines.
Bird From Coast to Coast
In 2023, Bird Canada was chosen to provide its services to the cities of Hamilton and Windsor, and was also selected by the cities of Oshawa and Brampton. Bird Canada is the only micro mobility company to have been chosen for three consecutive years by the City of Ottawa to operate a fleet of e-scooters on its territory. In total, Bird Canada operates in 20 cities in Canada. These new markets, including Regina, build on Bird’s footprint in Canada, solidifying its position as the biggest shared micromobility operator in Canada, and a leader around the world.
To ride a Bird, simply unlock and use the e-scooters through our user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
